Industrial art weekend in the Hammer!

May 1, 2007

I’m really excited about the next group show, which takes place this coming weekend in Hamilton at the McMaster Innovation Park. The facility manager, Rod Paget, has stepped up to curate a show of industrial art at the old Westinghouse factory @ 175 Longwood Rd. South. This 1920’s era building houses one of the most unique and rare industrial boilers in North America and was a key manufacturing facility of munitions during World War II.

The art show will be a part of Doors Open – Hamilton, an initiative of the Hamilton Wentworth Heritage Association, the Hamilton Branch of the ACO and Tourism Hamilton. This event, the fifth annual, is a province-wide undertaking in which many public buildings (art galleries, museums, churches, etc) are open and free to the public.

This show promises to bring some of the most exciting artists from around the city – the participents include:

Diane Purdie, Debra Archibald, Bonnie Miller, yours truly, Dave Hind, Robin Laffier, Mark Byk, Sylvia Simpson, Nicola Giles-Morreale, Bill Powell, John Stirling and Rod Paget.
